Sit & Stay Pro Tips — Dog-Friendly Dating

If your pup doesn’t get along with the person you’re dating, or vice versa, it can cause a lot of emotional strain.

Here are three different tactics to help your partner and dog get along.

  1. Train. We cannot stress this enough. Reinforcing basic training is the best way to maintain a strong foundation and boundaries with your dog. If your partner needs some space, then being able to reliably tell your dog to go lay on his bed can help keep the peace.

  2. Get your partner involved in training. Help your loved one feel more comfortable around your dog by empowering them to set boundaries. This also gets your pup used to listening to commands from your partner as well as you.

  3. Find someone equally as passionate about dogs. Did you know there are dating apps just for dog lovers? Make sure you never have to choose between ā€œthem and the dogā€ by checking out profiles on apps like fetchadate. (Don’t worry; we know it will always be the dog!)

Training when you need it, where you need it!

One-on-one dog training is the most effective means to address severe behavioral problems like anxiety, house training, and leash reactivity

However, in-home training with a professional dog trainer can be expensive, and finding a time that works for everyone can be difficult. Virtual Leash offers the same benefits as in-home dog training with a lower price tag and more flexibility.
